Welcome to the Alabama Quit Now! Congratulations, you are now registered for online tobacco cessation counseling. You may be wondering, "What's next?" The following screens will guide you through the process. First, you must log in and then we want to know more about you and your tobacco usage. You will be able to set some personal goals for your quit plan and your treatment sessions with your counselor begin as soon as you complete your quit plan.

Information about the menu: The menu item on the left of this screen will remain the same throughout your online counseling, and you will notice icons to the left of each menu item. A red "stop" icon indicates a locked menu item. A yellow icon indicates the current menu item you are working on, and as you complete sections and save them you will see a green check mark icon to indicate that you successfully completed the section. As you complete and save menu sections, the program will automatically forward you to the next screen. No wondering where to go next!

Things to remember: Remember to use the "Save and Continue" button after your complete each screen. Your information will not be saved if you skip this step. You do not have to complete every menu item at once. Log in as many times as you need to complete each section. Just remember to save your work on each screen! When setting your personal goals for quitting, choose goals that you know you can follow through with. This will make your quit plan more meaningful which can make you more successful.

Treatment Sessions & Counselor Interactions: Interactions with your counselor will begin after you complete your quit plan and choose a quit date. Your treatment sessions are labeled as: 1. Preparing to Quit 2. Quitting 3. Staying Quit. Session one is unlocked as soon as you complete your quit plan. Session two should be completed anytime on or after your actual quit date. Session three should be completed after you have remained quit for about 2 weeks. You can contact your counselor by clicking "Send Message to Counselor" located at the top of your treatment screen. After several contacts, you will notice that the text feature looks similar to a running online conversation (i.e. instant messaging, chat). After you "Send Message to Counselor", your counselor will provide feedback as soon as possible, but it may be the following business day.

Emails from Alabama Quit Now: You may periodically receive emails from us with reminders, quit tips, and emails may also be used to verify information and quit anniversaries. Please keep a valid email address on file.
